What to charge?

For a straight repair, you should look to make between $130 and $190 CLEAR PROFIT! That's not pie-in-the-sky - these are real world margins and people are more than happy to pay them. You will still undercut the "big-boys" by a small fortune! Your customers pay all the carriage costs, even if you don't fix them. On average, once we've received a laptop it takes 30 minutes to diagnose the fault. About 2 days maximum to acquire a replacement FRU, then we allow an hour to replace it. I average a turnaround of a laptop in 3 days - that is VERY competitive!

Work it out. You spend about 2 hours working on the laptop. Do 2 a day - 4 hours work. Take say $320 profit for those. What could you do with the earnings potential of $1600 per week for what is really PART-TIME work? That's $75,000 a year!! And it's realistic!
